Stress (Part V)
Take the opportunity that a traffic jam presents.
1. You could dictate letters whilst sitting there on a portable machine.
2. If you want you can have a hands free telephone there and conduct your business activity from there.
3. You can put in a CD of something you wanted to study or hear, or even possibly a book. Maybe on some important subject or a continuing education course.
But you can begin to see how you can use that time for something else you want to do, something that would help you to be productive, instead of the destructive.
We are self regulating organisms. We can choose what we want to think about. We don’t just think. We choose what we want to think about. We can select what we want to think about. So habit is an enemy of creative solutions.
So you can have the choice of making that a very positive, constructive, creative way of looking at it or one in which there is a lot of self destructive self talk.
‘I can’t do this.’ ‘I will never be able to do that.’ You know what that becomes, a self fulfilling prophecy. People who say, ‘I can’t do this.’ or ‘I will never do this.’ They don’t, but on the other hand, the very successful and fulfilled people are people that say, ‘I think I can do this.’ ‘I believe I can do this.’ or ‘I know I can do this.’
I know it sounds simplistic but you can defeat yourself or you can put yourself on the right path with your self talk.
If you tell yourself you can do something there is a good likelihood you can. If you tell yourself you can’t, you’ve set it up already so you’ll never get there.
